Wikis

We have been using a wiki to manage our unit meeting for almost one year now- I made it on PBWiki last August. In that year, PBWiki has made sooooo many changes that make creating and using wikis quite easy! The wiki has worked quite well for us, and eliminates sending all the agendas and various papers we might be discussing as email attachments. Usually the recorder posts the minutes to the wiki and asks everyone just to jump in with additions or corrections. Anyone it the department is free to add items to the agenda when they have something for discussion.

Another wiki that looks very promising is an Evidence Based Medicine wiki, EBM Librarian which was started by 3 librarians at Duke, Dartmouth, and U of Newfoundland; it offers a platform to share clinical scenarios, exercises, suggestions for evaluation, and discussion. I think this will be useful as we continue to work with the medical students, especially as EBM is a thread throughout the entire first two years in the new curriculum.
